Fishing Fun

We found a great place to take the kids and fish off the shore. The girls seem to like this so much better than fishing from a boat, I think it's because they can get up and run around. Rick & Tanner love it because they can concentrate on fishing and I love just being outside reading a book.

We went on Friday night and the kids had so much fun they begged to go back on Saturday night. Since Friday night was our 1st time there we didn't really know where the "good" fishing spots were. We were able to get a good spot on Saturday night. Tanner caught a BIG carp but it fell off his line just as it hit the shore and flopped back into the water...bummer! He was still excited to catch it though. Amber was able to catch a few and so was Amanda. Amanda just likes playing with the worms though...for being such a girly, girl she sure loves those worms.

We also had picnics both nights. It was so nice to spend time together away from it all.

Field Trip Day with Amanda

Today we went on a field trip with Amanda's preschool class. Rick was able to come with us which was really special since it's not often that happens :) We got to see lots of animals and Amanda even got to hold baby ducks. That was by far her FAVORITE part! She was so good with them too. She asked if we could take one home as we were leaving.

2 Wheelin'

Where did the time go? Our baby, Amanda just figured out how to ride a two-wheel bike yesterday. She was so proud of herself. She had to ride around the yard because she wasn't sure of herself to go on the road or driveway...lol! She's a big girl now :)

An Amazing Woman...

Tonight we went to visit my Grandma & her husband. She is truly an inspiration to me. I'm amazed at what she has accomplished in life and how she shows unconditional love to all of us. We went tonight to bring her the flower pot the kids made her for Mother's Day. She was in Vegas for Mother's Day. Her and Tom travel allllll the time and she is always so happy. I hope when I get into my upper 70's like she is I'm as active and as full of life as she is. Tom was telling me tonight that while they were in Vegas she gambles all hours of the night and rarely sleeps, LOL! She said "I can sleep when I get home!" God, I love that lady. I'm posting a picture of her and Grandpa Tom on Halloween 2 years ago because like a dummy I forgot my camera tonight.

The Finished Frog

Well, here it is...the finished product. It turned out so cool! It looks even better in person. Way to go Rick :) And just a little side note...his mom collects frogs so this is really cool that he got picked to paint this thing.

Happy Mother's Day

Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day :) Mine was fantastic. My husband is so very thoughtful and so are the kids. I was woke up this morning with beautiful cards and homemade items from the kids. Cute little cards and poems, they mean more than any store bought item. My husband also bought me a BEAUTIFUL hanging basket for the front yard, pretty pink Begonias. We then went out for brunch with my mom, dad, my sister & her family. After that we went to Lowe's and picked out some flowers and got a Starbucks...yummy! Finally we went to my in-laws to have supper with them. It was just a great day. I'm so thankful for my kids and my husband. And I'm honored he chose me to be his wife and the mother of his kids.

Field Trip Day with Tanner

Wow, what an amazing day we had. Tanner's school takes the entire 4th grade class to Madison every year to see the state capital and the zoo. It's such a great experience for the kids. So here are some pictures of the zoo and the capital. It was so nice to spend some mom & me time with Tanner, we don't get to do that often enough.

Mothers Day Project

The kids decorated each grandma a flower pot. They used buttons, jewels & ribbons to jazz it up. Each pot turned out so cute. I bought some perennial flowers to put in them. I'm still not sure how I'm going to decide which Grandma gets what pot. Maybe I'll have to draw names or something. So here are the finished pictures.

GOTCHA!!

That is the name of Rick's frog he's doing for The Einstein Project. To get picked he had to submit designs for either a frog, butterfly or a sandhill crane. Then they were presented to judges and they chose the winners. The winners have to create this frog just as they were designed. So Rick is doing a frog with his tongue sticking out catching a fly. The only thing he had to work with was the frog, he's designed everything else so far and painted it. It's looking really cool. The blue you see on the back of the frog is just tape, where the black spots are going to be. I will post more pictures as this thing progresses. A Beautiful "Family" Day

I felt like we needed to do something with the kids, something "fun" just to get away for a little bit. I think they get bored of the same old routine, like we do :) So I suggested we go to The Wildlife Sanctuary to feed the geese and see some of the other animals. We seen a couple of 3 week old racoons (they were soo cute), and some baby goslings. The kids were soooo excited. So here are a few pictures of our day. It was beautiful weather, the sun was shining. It was just a great day to spend together! We need to do more of that!!
